«Снижение потребления алкоголя считается результатом форсированного роста акцизов на алкогольную продукцию, централизации ее производства и сдвига предпочтений молодого поколения в пользу пива и слабоалкогольной продукции», — объясняют причину «отрезвления» россиян исследователи РАНХиГС. Они отметили, что в период экономического спада 2008-2012 годов потребление алкоголя также снижалось и проводят аналогию с сложившейся на сегодня ситуацией, когда после кризиса 2014-2016 годов упали реальные доходы населения, а цены на алкоголь при этом росли: только за последний год они повысились на 2,5%.
Впрочем, как выяснили в РАНХиГС, снижение объемов распития горячительных напитков, на которые у россиян не хватает денег, обернулось уменьшением смертности из-за алкогольного отравления: в 2017 году по этой причине в России умерло 6789 человек, это на 1494 человек или 18% меньше, чем в 2016 году.
В то же время, глава Центра исследований федерального и региональных рынков алкоголя (ЦИФРРА) Вадим Дробиз убежден, что на самом деле употреблять спиртное жители страны меньше не стали: вместо легальной продукции, которая учитывается Росстатом, россияне пьют контрафакт. «Суррогаты продаются в 2-4 раза дешевле в нелегальной рознице и за последние 5-10 произошел огромный переток потребителей на такую продукцию, хотя небольшое снижение потребления алкоголя все же фиксируется. В основном, за счет рынка пива: его стали меньше пить, но только из-за того, что за последние годы из-за демографической ямы в стране существенно сократилось количество молодежи — основных потребителей «пенного», — говорит эксперт.
